Welcome to my website! My name is Michael Auffant, and I am a photographer and videographer currently working out of Bakersfield, California. I was born in Puerto Rico, and moved to California with my family when I was 10 years old. In order to pursue my love for photography, film, and animation, I attended college at the Art Institute of California in San Francisco and received my Bachelors of Science Degree with a specialization in Media Arts and Animation. Shortly after graduating, I was introduced into rock climbing, and my life has been changed ever since. I discovered a love for being outdoors and a passion for exploring the vertical realm. Being in California has allowed me to explore the outdoors in all its landscapes, from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada or dessert climbing in Joshua tree, to sailing in Marina Del Rey and mountain biking in the Kern Canyon near where I live. I have since become the healthiest I have ever been, met my beautiful girlfriend, and gained a new respect for this amazing playground we call earth.
I currently work in the industrial automation industry for a company called ProSoft, where I have gotten to learn many aspects of running a video production department almost single handedly, working on conceptualizing, filming, editing and structuring a clean and efficient workflow; I am also highly involved in photographing our company events and taking product shots using studio based lighting. In addition to my professional experience, my outdoor adventures have provided me a beautiful new medium for my photography and videography, fulfilling both my creative and adventurous sides. The options are limitless, and on any given weekend you might find me sailing with friends to Catalina Island, working a bouldering project in Bishop, California, or even shredding on my bike in Moab, Utah, all with a camera and a smile.
